Have you noticed?
As time goes by, things make less and less sense.
I was reminded by the tv last night that the Dept of Agriculture guidelines for a nutritional diet require seven servings of vegetables a day. Now I love vegetables, especially fresh homegrown...but seven?? Why seven? I know, I shouldn't ask...there I go expecting things to make sense.
There is no rational reason for arbitrarily stating that seven servings of vegetables have to be consumed by everyone, every day. You don't need a college degree to know that. I could speculate why a dysfunctional Dept of Agriculture might come up with something like this, but I'd rather not. Nuts is nuts, no need to analyze it.
This is just an example, look around and you will see nonsense everywhere. Now that we all know smoking makes you really sick, why do people still take it up? Are they people who hate themselves?
Why is the US still on the English system of measurement? Even the English have abandoned it, why continue to manufacture tools, lumber, and so on that are incompatible with the entire world? Do people really love measuring things in fractions that much? Can you divide sixteen and 11/32 inches by nine and 15/64 in your head on a noisy construction site when you are on a deadline to finish building something?
If we know that pollution kills and maims people, why don't we put polluters in jail in the US like they do in other countries? If you hire someone to kill a business competitor and you get caught, you go to prison for life. But if you deliberately pollute a town's drinking water for personal profit and kill hundreds of people, there is no law to put you behind bars at all.
Well, you get the drift, things really don't make sense. Maybe the people in mental institutions are sane...it's obvious the people out walking around aren't.
